Kathy Underwood Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our devoted and loving mother and grandmother, Kathy on the morning of Wednesday, January 7, 2026  after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Kathy was a woman whose life unfolded like a familiar prairie road. Steady, meaningful, and marked by the people she loved along the way. She passed away surrounded by the legacy she built through family, faith and quiet strength.

Kathy was reunited in passing with her beloved husband Ernest, who predeceased her in 2003, along with her parents Christina and Charles Auger. Though his absence shaped the rest of her life, her devotion to her family never wavered. She carried love forward, multiplying it through her children and grandchildren.

Kathy was a proud and deeply loving mother and grandmother. She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Shannon, Patricia & Sarah; grandchildren Zackary, Brendan, Alex, Josie, Tia, Ariel, Selena, Gideon, Tristan, Nathan, Anthony, Natasha & Jonathan; and great grand daughter Nova.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Kathy’s roots were firmly planted there, but her life journey took her through Hazleridge, Portage La Prairie and Morris. In each place she created a home not just of walls, but of warmth, love and faith. Eventually she returned to Winnipeg, completing a circle that felt fitting and familiar, like coming back to where her story began.

Kathy was known for her quiet resilience, her listening ear, and the way she made space for others. She didn’t need to be loud and flashy to be strong and unforgettable.
Her love wasn't a grand production; it was a quiet, steady rhythm. It lived in the space she held for us and her unwavering faith.

Her memory will live on in the stories told around kitchen tables, in the laughter of her grandchildren, and in the steady love passed down through generations.

We would like to send a special thanks to Cancer Care Manitoba and all the staff at the Women's Hospital on the 5th floor for taking such good care of our mom.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Kathy, you're the only one who can hold your head up high. Shake your fists at the gates, saying "I have come home now! Fetch me the Father, the Son and the Spirit! Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended! It's time now, my time now! Give me my wings!"
